A Better World

If there is one thing I have seen and learnt in the first three weeks at IIM Shillong, it is the quantum of difference that a dedicated group can make. The world would be a better place if people could be convinced to donate small, or large, amounts of time to make houses, cook food, teach language and arithmetic and provide healthcare to the underserved in their community. Discontent engenders frustration, and frustrations lead to protests and violence and other issues that make living difficult in the world. It seems extremely optimistic, but donating time could change the world and very quickly at that. Of course, monetary inputs would be required. But, as long as education is not overlooked, the underserved will rise and emphasis on equal opportunities for everyone will help solve or, at least, attenuate most of these problems and make the world a better place.

  1. Nicely written. It depicts how well these institutions convey us the significance of contributing back to the society from which we have gained a lot. There is a need to explore plethora of such issues that we can make efforts to address from our part.
    Well done! All the best.
